Food Allergies, Intolerances and Sensitivities

It’s no surprise that food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities are affected by the health of your gut. The permeability of your gut lining and inflammation in the gut can give rise to these adverse food reactions, provoking symptoms affecting the digestive and respiratory tracts as well as the skin and the nervous system. Appropriate diet intervention is essential in relieving symptoms and improving your quality of life.

Maria is a Certified Leap Therapist which means she has advanced clinical training in adverse food reactions, including food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities. She is skilled at assisting clients with the LEAP immunocalm diet protocol based on the mediator release blood test. LEAP stands for Lifestyle, Eating and Performance and the mediator release blood test assess reactions to 150 foods and chemicals. Maria works with clients to uncover any adverse food reactions and plan easy, healthful diets to improve symptoms. She carefully educates clients how to read labels for targeted foods, how to eat in restaurants and other places out of the home, and how to use alternative foods and supplements to ensure adequate nutrient intake.

When should you suspect adverse food reactions?

If you suffer from IBS, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, brain fog, and other chronic inflammatory diseases such as ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis and eczema then adverse food reactions may be playing a role. If you have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease but still have symptoms despite vigilant adherence to a gluten free diet, then other adverse food reactions may be affecting your condition.

Food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities may also be suspect if…

  • Your symptoms are chronic and frequent
  • You have many other clinical or co-morbid conditions
  • There is evidence of an active inflammatory process
  • You have chronic excess mucus production or a history of food allergy
